Off the Tee: Nike Power Distance Long Review

Nike Power Distance Long

Nothing about short feels good, whether it’s falling short or being shortchanged. If you’re falling short off your drive, you should be feeling both. It’s time to consider Nike’s Power Distance (PD) long golf ball. This high-velocity, low price ball could increase your ball speed by 3 mph and add 15 yards to your drive. And the best part, it probably costs less than what you’re hitting now!

Off the tee is where this ball performs it’s best. Nike chose to ignore the conventional high launch philosophy in favor of a lower trajectory that hits the ground hot. That means when your ball hits a fairway of normal or firmer conditions it takes off running for added distance.

Unfortunately, like most distance balls, this ball wasn’t designed for workability or stopping power. The low trajectory and low spin can make it challenging to hold a firm green. When using this ball it’s advisable to factor in extra roll on your chips, pitches and bunker shots.

Bottom line, this ball was made to add power, distance and value to your bag. For a brand-name ball that travels this far at this price, you’d be shorting yourself not to give it try. Pick up a sleeve of 4 at Brackenridge and see what makes this polybutadiene core golf ball so great!

In the event that a golfer shoots an exceptional tournament score in the 1st round of the 2014 Public Links Championship and requires handicap adjustment for the Next day of play the following formula will be used. (3 shots or better below their handicap) In these cases, the amount of shots below your course allowance was divided by two and subtracted from your Handicap. For example, if you shot 3 shots below your handicap, or a 68, 1.5 strokes was deducted from your previous handicap. That becomes your index for the next round. However........The rules committee will track these golfers. If any adjusted golfer shoots above his un-adjusted handicap, HE WILL RECEIVE the un-adjusted index value. The rules commitee will strive to protect the integrity of the handicap process for the duration of the 2014 Public Links Championship.
